About About

Caz interviewed by Tommy, March 20, 2001

Tommy: Hello Caz, thank for your time....

Caz: No problem......

Tommy: First of all, why BeOS and not Windows or Linux?

Caz: Well i've learnt all my programming in BeOS(3 months now), and is my Operating System of choice. If I could play Quake3 in BeOS, i wouldn't bother with Windows at all.

Tommy: Are you a retroplayer? Which is your best old-system?

Caz: Oh that's an easy choice for me, it's got to be the Snes, had great graphics and sound and loads of great games. I bought one on import in 1991, and i'll never forget how impressed I was at the time. I bought a Snes with a Super Wildcard backup device about 6 months ago for £60 and still play Mario Kart and all the other classics once in a while.

Tommy: Do you play with emus that you port?

Caz: Sometimes.

Tommy: Tell me what you think....The best and the worst side of BeOS emulation scene today.

Caz: The best side is that people are working on delivering the emulators to BeOS, the worst well I can't think of one really.

Tommy: If I ask something about your next project?

Caz: Well i'm on the ZSnes team to port it to BeOS, so that should be interesting :-), so hopefully I can help out the other guys on the team to get this excellent emulator to us BeOS people.

Tommy: You never upload your apps on BeBits....why?

Caz: I have uploaded one of my apps there(nothing to do with emulation), I don't know why I haven't put the emulators on BeBits, it's the first place I visit when I go online so maybe I should make sure that they are available on BeBits. (A tricky qestion that one Tommy!!!!).

Tommy: Do you think that BeOS need rom tools like the Good series for DOS?

Caz: I haven't used any of the Good tools, but yeah I suppose it'd be very handy.

Tommy: And a general front-end like pLauncher for Linux?

Caz: Most BeOS emus have a proper Frontend as standard, but I wouldn't complain.

Tommy: Now, it's time to wish.... A wish regarding BeOS emulation?

Caz: Updated Mame with CPS2 emulation, an updated Snes Emulator and an emulator which could simulate Heaven and Hell, so I could decide where I want to go when I die.

Tommy: What do you think about non-Microsoft OS emulation future?

Caz: If we get as many emulators as possible on BeOS, then people who like BeOS can play their emulators in BeOS. The most important thing for BeOS's future is OpenGL support, once people can play their games in BeOS, that's when things could really take off.

Tommy: Again, thanks for your time and for all. Bye, Tommy.

Caz: No Thank you Tommy, and thank you for your cooperation(Robocop) !!!!!!!!! Goodnight.
